While seekingsome info regarding my local job search I got linked to U.P.L.B. site ... I typed in its SEARCH field: "job" and I was linked to this article which I copy completely (not really STOLE...). Except for the bracketed comments of mine, the rest are as I copied them:

UPB reacts to ABS-CBN's Maalala Mo Kaya episode

UPLB has issued an official statement to ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation in light of a recent episode of their Maalala Mo Kaya program which inadvertently cast a bad light on the University and its constituents.

The complete letter is as follows:

Our attention has been called by constituents and alumni to an episode featured in Maala-ala Mo Kaya entitled "Blusa," which was aired on ABS-CBN on Feb. 28 and on TFC recently. Our constituents and alumni were concerned whether the episode was based on truth.

The story was of a woman who allegedly graduated BS AgriBusiness, summa cum laude, from the University of the Philippines Los Baños or UPLB, who could not find a job, and ended up a stripper. We tried to find out who the subject was by tracking all 27 of our summa cum laude graduates from the time the University was established in 1909. We could not find anyone matching the subject as portrayed in "Blusa."

Whether or not the subject was a UPLB graduate, we deeply sympathize with her and her family. However, in the interest of maintaining its reputation as a truthful storyteller, the MMK should have a mechanism to validate claims by letter senders especially those that require a stretch of imagination as to be believed.

While indeed touching and a perfect example of a human-interest story, "Blusa" regrettably affected the reputation of UPLB as an educational institution and its constituents and alumni. We therefore request ABS-CBN to set the record straight and correct the wrong impression that it created among its viewers. We also make an appeal to producers of similar programs to be more prudent in reporting stories with claims that would affect the reputation not only of a school but also of its alumni in the Philippines and abroad.

"THE HOUSE ON #36 MAGSAYSAY DRIVE

OLONGAPO CITY, ZAMBALES PROVINCE"The house owned by my late aunt on the land that was given to her by Americans. The store on the right with a opening adjoining a small door is #36 Magsaysay Drive... The picture was taken sometime between 1963 and 1965. A safe date is 1964. At the second floor, the room to the left is my aunt's master bedroom. The right side window is the area shown in the picture in a past blog posting about toys and the stuffed lawin. The curtained glass window at the rightmost above the door fronts a staircase area. The door opens to a flight of stairs that turns left. The fixed ad signs read "Sally's Gift Shop" & "J's Store". The second wide opening in the middle is a BOTICA run by the cousin of my aunt..
Note the high electric post & wires... Reminds me one time very early in the morning (12:00 -2:00 A.M.) here in our house in Quezon City, Meralco linemen were so fast in setting up such similar electrical lines... Why were they in such a hurry? Also take a look at my very very first baby picture... There are already power lines in that picture... I wondered sometime in the past... Can these three electrical wires involve something more than electricity or electrical current? Can these be control devices that send waves that affect or even control humans living near these? Oh, by the way, I reached senior level in my undergraduate Electrical Engineering course before in U.P. Diliman... That was the toughest course then [Now, it's Molecular Biology or Computer Eng'g?]... I know & understand some high-level electrical engineering and even physics concepts... I am not your usual stoop... My CONSTHEO combines magick, religion & science... One must remember that before CHEMISTRY there was ALCHEMY, ASTROLOGY before ASTRONOMY... and plain water before plastic water...

This house shall be the focus/setting of the bulk of the stories I shall relate... I can call the complete collection as "The Story of My Life" or "Jamaal's Strange Story" [Just this very moment (10:20 P.M.) there seems to be some dark object/a mouse? that flitted on my right along the stairs... Hallucination?] I just remembered the 1960's song "The House of the Rising Sun" by "The Animals"? but this has no connection to our house... I just remembered the song... It does not fit... The reader should not underestimate the story behind this house... All the stories... This house picture tells a lot of stories... I can relate practically everybody & everything... Name a person, place or event & somehow I can it this to the house... Question: Is a summa cum laude graduate of the U.P. Diliman necessarily a successful person?
My answer shall connect the house to someone in the past... a certain blank that blank is the who surprisingly turned blah blah blah...

I don't know but my narration follows a certain style or pattern? stream of consciousness? stream of craziness (HAR!)?... Again that dark thing suddenly... Mouse or Hallucination?

Human beings normally take things for granted and "accept" many events, happenings, incidents as natural or part of the usual course of Life. But even as a child, I was always asking myself about the REASONS why these things happen around me. I was trying to see the RAISON D'ETRE for anything & everything about me... Why? Why? Take the case of my relationship with other HUMANS... I had friends & close relatives... But I always considered myself as ultimately ALONE, that I cannot "take control" of the lives of others... Thus, there was an unbridgeable SPACE between me & another HUMAN BEING, even my mother... As I grew older I became aware that many things around me, especially those connected with HUMAN BEINGS were essentially different from those from NATURE like stones, flora, fauna. Humans involve the idea of INTENTION/INTENTIONALITY, a very important concept that is the distinguishing feature of the HUMAN REALITY... (I'm having difficulty trying to express myself now, trying to PHILOSOPHIZE this very moment when I should just be uploading some pictures... I'll just continue this when I get the mood...

BAGUIO CITY, Crystal Cave

With my late cousin Rodolfo P. Rody was killed (knifed to death) in Bicol in the late 1970's or early 1980's allegedly due to problems with the land that his father owned. The CHISMIS was that his father was unscrupulous. But THEY should have killed his father & not him!!! He was one of my favorite companions as a child. He was also basically a loner & normally a very quiet, reserved person - yet VERY ALERT. But he had this funny unpredictable side which he showed to few individuals once in a while... One vivid memory scene: He jumped down from a high (for me) balcony & landed squarely on both his feet. His action greatly IMPRESSED me & had a very influential effect on me... Just like the effect of movie heros/heroines on young impressionable children... Have you noticed how the eyes of a young girl who falls in love with someone for the first time twinkle?... The dreamy eyes... Young children I guess are looking for someone to look up to - role-models... Maybe this is a basic human characteri/behaviour that happens & will continue to happen to people... Those who RUN THE WORLD should know these things too well & always exploit it in their MANIPULATIONs...
